Dur ka dhol suhawna lagta hai. This seems very much right in many situations. This is particularly true for we all Indians who are ever craving to move west. Ask somebody: where do you plan to be…. Amrika comes the answer . or America or Europe. Why? Hmm.. do not really know. Probably it is very great.
Great? C’mon you must be kidding. What does great mean. Again there is some pause. Hmm. More money. Very true. But again it is like bikni which hides more than it exposes. More money, at what cost.
There are people who earn a hell lot of money and live a good life, though certainly hectic. But simultaneously there are people who had liked to go to amrika but how and why were not actually clear tend to go to certain fields whose result is not as glittering as it was assumed earlier. Many can be found wearing good clothes, spending money lavishly but are they really happy with their work .May be not! I see many brown men and women working in the lowest category of work. I agree that it is very subjective, that someone has to do menial jobs. But why we? Where did we go wrong then, probably overestimation of self and under estimation of the competence required in the modern world. I see people roaming on the street drugged and stopping every brown people to ask if he is from Mumbai.
But certainly there are many who succeed. A fresh example I see is a Punjabi restaurant owner in Netherland (Hague). He came 30 years back by sea way with no money in hand but now owns a descent hotel.
