Earth, as the name suggests, was heavy but full of energy. Earth was satisfied with the fact that there are many unknown mates in his surroundings who were bigger and bulkier. There were little people like mercury and Pluto on the one hand and heavy weights like Jupiter on the other.
Initially earth thought he can live in the company of the Sky, the Air and the Water. They were his best friends and all four were each other’s strength. He also had a great friend; the moon. They were all so close that they never thought they would ever need any one else. Years passed by and they all evolved unknowing that there are other people with whom they will have to interact.
Earth, Moon and their friends worked together, read together and enjoyed together. They had food as well as the beer. However, they soon realized that they cannot coexist without the influence of others. They may not know them but they need to find them in order to evolve. Simultaneously earth realized that there is someone missing apart from his core strengths of sky, water and air. Therefore they all started their journey of the world.
Earth found some great friends in his journey. Jupiter, mars, venus, Saturn and many more. Some of them did matter in his life while others just came and went away.
Then he met Fire. Initially he thought “ oh! Another of the friends”
But he soon realized that the fire was his life. Fire helped him feel the warmth of life. Fire helped him grow and evolve. Earth very early on realized that his friends were important but the fire was the most important of all. Moon and earth were still close friends talking always what happened around them. Moon talked about his friends and earth about his. Their experiences were very different but the common part was the new friends they made in their life.
Earth also came to know that fire was as dangerous as was useful. Earth saw himself burning many a times because of the anger of fire. However every time fire went by burning a part of earth a new life sprouted there. Others also realized how great the fire was. Simultaneously, everybody also knew that they should not fool around with fire or they will feel the burnt.
Earth and fire nurtured each other and they grew together to be more mature friends. Earth helped fire calm down and the fire helped earth to rejuvenate. Fire would never realize the inherent strength. Fire was like Kasturi always wandering around happy, jovial and full of energy. Fire would appreciate the power of earth and earth would try to show how important the fire was.
They both learnt to live together. If one was left behind the other would walk slow. If one went fast, other would try to catch up.
However there were certain differences between them too. Earth repeated itself almost every 24 hours and for sure in a year. He did not want to repeat himself but unconsciously he felt reassuring to know of his position after some time. He did not want to wander around fearing to loose his old strengths of sky, water , air and the newest and the best strength of fire. But fire was ever flowing and never stoppable. Fire was eager to fly, determined to run, never to look back. It was boring for fire to look back, stop and assess.
Many a times earth rejuvenated, many a times he felt the burnt. Many a times earth would catch hold of fire and would ask fire to wait. But if fire waited, that place would burn to ashes and every time earth would repent as to why he tried to control the fire rather than going along. If fire tried to wait for earth against the wish, both of them felt the heat, the unbearable flame.
The time was passing by very quickly and earth reached very close to the sun, the ever powerful almighty and conceiver of the whole world. The intensity of fire increased and earth was at its full rage. Earth and fire could not bear the intense heat of the sun and also of each other. The only feasible alternative for them was to take the help of the strengths of water and sky to dissipate the heat. They also tried to go as far as possible but with the hope to be together when the scorching sun soothes itself.
The sun was very happy thinking that he is there for the world energizing one and all. He was totally unaware of the fact that the energy that was supposed to be stored for the future was more than enough for the present. The energy which was meant to keep the future beautiful and lively in the time of need was burning the present with its intense heat. However, sun soon realized the mistake and asked his ever calm companion, the clouds to give shade to all from his heat.
Earth was again close to fire, sky and water. Moon and friends rejoiced.

Another restaurant another wall

The plot is of a restaurant and protagonist is me only me. I have been here in Assen now for exactly 20 days and it had not been the great days. But will write about that some other time. So, every night I have to go to a restaurant for the dinner. And I must say it is horrible to eat alone, hmm!! Not really . It is horrible to seat alone, before my dinner, waiting for ever so non enthusiastic waiters to bring the order.

The experience in this particular restaurant was no different. This time it was a Greek restaurant ‘Delfi’ in the heart of Assen. Actually, Assen(Netherlands) is too small to have a full blown body and if the markt is the heart, the town will end between neck and abdomen. (stop being English critic; spelling is right, market in dutch is markt). I walked across my hotel to this greek restaurant that had many cycles near to its gate. I wondered how can so many people be in the restaurant. However I soon realized this is the result of the nearby Casino. So I entered this restaurant and kept my jacket on the shelf hanger. There were a handful of people sitting there. Actually more than handful as even one Dutch person who is more than 6 feet tall can not be counted as a handful, whatever be the size of my hand.
As I sat down on the chair, I thought oh! not again, sitting alone staring at the walls. The wall in front of me had a decently large painting of semi clad men and women. Do not let your imaginations run loose. The painting tried to depict Greeks of ancient era getting ready to eat. There were 4 men and a woman to be precise and apples and grapes along with some unidentifiable food items on the table. One person with a typical Greek beard was bringing the big jar supposedly of wine. I turned back and true to this Greek way, this restaurant also had a good bar with vast variety of liquors.

However, I can bet some of my friends can draw far better canvas than, what this restaurant had. Actually, if I look back to the various restaurants I have been eating in lately, all the paintings were worth not more than shit. Between do not undermine the value of shit in the time of biofuels and energy demand.
Then I thought, now what ? That was all there in front of me that could be described. Hmm!! Probably now I realized why I could see many people especially firangs having a pen and diary when they were in restaurants eating alone. Firangs especially because we Indians tend to flock together and move in a group. Any ways, I had again not brought anything to write. This is when my Motorola mobile came to my rescue. In fact, I scribbled many lines sitting there on my mobile. This is especially for those of my friends, who want me to throw my motorola phone and get a nokia branded ‘self defence weapon’. By that time the non English speaking waiter brought the food and then aeshmaglech(I still do not know the dutch spelling; this means enjoy the food).

दो कदम

<img style="float:right;
Some Interesting figures
· Total Number of seats 545
· Total number of candidates: 5398
· Highest Number of votes 855543 in favour of SAJJAN Kumar, Chandni Chowk
o Lowets Number of Votes 45 for Ashok Kumar, Chandni Chowk

· A total of 369 parties, including 7 national parties, were in the election foray.
· Total number of EVM(Electronic voting machines used) 10.25 lacs. This saved 8000 Metric tones of paper

· 8 parties who had won last time scored a duck this time.
o Prominent among them are the PMK, remember ex health minister with all hues and cry over AIMS and sutta in bollywood.

o LJP(Lok Janshakti party) remember our ex & ex & ex Railway minister Ram Vilas paswan who somehow managed to be a cabinet minister in all the governments whether it be NDA or UPA
o
· Some high Profile loosers: Lalu Yadav, Ram Vilas Paswan, Vinod Khanna, Mani shankar aiyaar

Lalu lost from patliputra. If he had pre poll alliance with Congress, he would have won this seat by ~5000votes
Anyways, Lalu had also lost from Sharad Yadav of JD(U) once. Only Satto, barber muted

From last half a year, the news of recession is taking ground. The recession is feared to get deeper and deeper to a depression. Whenever anything different occurs in the world, may it be swing of the sensex or this current recession, the guru of the concerned business take a back seat to think back. They may then come back with analogies to support the current situation. However the junta becomes the master. Everyone has a view as to what will happen the next day or the next moment. And just experience the confidence with which the comments flow.

I was just sitting in a chowk wala nayi shop(kesh kartanalay ). His name is satyanarayan, associate of Badrinath. We all call him satto and his boss as Badri. Hope Satto will not be infuriated on being called barber.

As always, I had to wait for my turn and listening to the chats of Satto and the customer. The clinging sound of the scissors was giving perfect background music to the conversation. Satto was fluently chatting with the customer and was giving the news of the whole area. Last day pappu yadav ke bagal waale ghar pe chori ho gayaa. Ab bataaiye jab uske ghar ke bagal me chori ho saktaa hai to kya safety hai town me. Customer nodded. Very mechanically satto turned the customer’s head to the right position, which had been changed due to the nod. FYI, it’s the same pappu yadav the one time goon and now sitting MP.(sitting in jail)

Then Mishra ji who was sitting beside me floated a topic related to the economic crisis and mehngayi. He continued, jab kisi samaan ka daam ghat hi nahi rahaa hai to fir ye inflation ghat kaise rahaa hai . kewal tel ka daam gahta hai. Satto replied, haan sir jab rate badaa tha to sabji, bhaji ka samaan bad gayaa par ab ghat to raha hi nahi hai.

Then came aadwani ji and Sonia ji followed by Obama, the first balck president. Is he an American, nahi wo to kala hai.american to gore hote hain….!@@@#@$. Then satto asked me aapto videsh me hain na.. wahana pe bhi aisa hota hai kya.kaisa bhai?? Wahaan se mere liye baal ko kaatne ka machine le aayiega. I nodded haan jaroor le aaunga, par wo sabhi machine ab India me bhi mil jaati hai. Achcha!!! Came the reply. Par humko to kahin dikhtaa hi nahi hai .

The point to be noted is he trims hair in the same way as other barber does. However it is only the magic of the conversation that keeps his customers intact. Everyone has a particular way of thinking and they want to make others aware of that and who is the best person apart from the kesh kartanalay. I bet if a poll is conducted about being the most aware of the basic situation of the locality, barbers will be among the toppers, may be just after or even before the district collector.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sanjeev-sajjan.blogspot.com/2009/02/satto-baber-oops-only-satto-barber.html' title='satto Baber Oops!! I remember my first flight that had good deal of excitement. But soon the excitement faded away and it became more of a duty. Duty to go a bit ahead of time, duty to stand in the check in line, duty for immigration mayhem… and so on.
I tried to fly with different companies to see what is the difference. And certainly Jet and kingfisher came out clearly. Another airplane that came out distinctly is Air Deccan, can also be called hawai dhakkan, with love or HATE. This was based on in house services.
If I consider off flight services(professional only…) hawai dhakkan maintains its position of being the worst Indian domestic flights. It seems that the dhakkans’ attendants and officials get a special training. This is to overlook the passengers’ plight, to politely say we will do everything possible to help you and be happy that they have added one more person in their list of befooled ones.
I remember hearing from only a few friends who had missed their international flights. And this time I joined this elite league. Thanks to Air deccan aka Hawai dhakkan.
I ahd a connecting flight with Hawai dhakkan and it showed a great consistency in its record by first announcing of it getting late. All the people had already checked in and after waiting for an hour, a pretty lady came to announce if we wanted to go with the flight. What a great question, guess what all the passengers had come to see the airport lounge and not to board the flight. After a while, she comes back again with a new twist: She announces: It will not be possible to take your baggage with you in the flight, do you all still want to board the flight? Then I will call the flight. Another example of perfect training and timing. All this is happening after announcement of delay of an hour. Finally for me this temproray ordeal came to an end when I felt if I further wait for this dhakkan I will certainly miss my next flight. I booked the ticket in Jet.I sympathize with those unfortunate ones who waited for the Dhakkan to still arrive. I finally got the news that the flight has been canceled. Though I was also not in a great position. As it was too late by then and I had missed my further flight.
Now again this dhakkan never took any responsibility and not even helped in any way. The perfect training paid them off once again. The only answer I got: We are not responsible for any unforeseen delays, what the hell! But again the Jet airways did help in getting the ticket reconfirmed for my flight though after a lot of discussion but at-least it helped.
I have not even been refunded the fare. This will be another ordeal .aah!!!

So my learning neverever rely on the dhakkans.

Friendship: Pleasure, Utility or Virtue

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_-L_hQ7qL2hc/SCd1CHBV3WI/AAAAAAAAB1E/zk1YnyhM9zw/s400/untitled.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5199252973927390562" />

I found myself as an innovator after this friendship binding energy curve, as I did not find any thing even close to this in any of the friendship citations. The reason can be, either it is a great work (a bit of exaggeration is good) or this is a lavish trash.
Lets not be too pumped up and settle with the great work. Leave the lavish part.
Also, here I must not take all the credit and must admit that the technical names are certainly inspired from some of the theories.

We befriend someone for three reasons viz. pleasure, utility and virtue.

It is very apparent here that pleasure and utility friendship are being carried over having a notion of getting some benefit in return. It looks like pleasure and utility friendships are at best deficient modes of friendship; by contrast, virtue friendships, because they are motivated by the excellences of your friend's character, are genuine, non-deficient friendships.

So the probability of friendship following bond1(good friends) curve is very close to the numeral 1 in the case of virtue friendship. Bond2 curve is a sort of friendship that never shaped up. Bond 3 curve did try to make headway. However it may be due to lack of commitment or drive that it never managed to sustain any turbulence, which is part and parcel of all relationships.

All the relationships/friendship starts with orientaion. This is followed by knowing a bit more than the face value. As face is also like a bikni which hides more than it reveals.
This stage is of aquaintance friendship. We generally make up our mind if we will be friends or not. And this is where bond 2 finds a different way from bond1 curve. If we tend to meet further we have transcended this phase and are nearing to another level of friendship.
It must be understood that making your friend totally dependent on yourself is not real friendship. The partner must be given scope for independent thinking even if it means he/she can do without you at the end. There is a need to care but simultaneously this caring is the need of friendship and not of the friend. This should always be clear that every persons’ space can be filled by another.
The next stage of friendship is more of a roller coaster ride if atall we care. There is a lot of chance that we do not echo the same thoughts. This results in lag between the thought process. And the result is misunderstanding. Now again if the friendship is based only on pleasure or utility, the friendship will not last. Hence, Bond3 curve shows declining tendency in friendship curve after the turbulance. On the other hand virtue friendship can go to another stage of friendship, friendship of trust.
The virtue friendship may also be in the turmoil if it is not sorted out. And the only way to sort out any confusion is discussion, an open discussion. But yes, it must be inititated. And one will initiate it only if he/she cares for the other partner. If we do not care about the partner than it really does not matter what he/she thinks. Maintaining silence always results in a cold war. Silence can always be taken as being “not interested in friendship anymore” or simply “introversion”. There is certainly a lot of room for wild thoughts. The result in either case is the bond3curve going to nadir.
If we follow a open minded discussion friendship sustains and carries on. Further, `Bond 1 is the curve for mutual self disclosure. It basically means friends share which they may not share with rest of the friends.
Sharing also starts when there is a feeling of positive vibes from the other person. This again strengthens the frindship. Also in this case of mutual self disclosure, we make ourself vulnerable to the other friend. This trust further strengthens the friendship.
This is bond1.
And as the friendship continues friendship tends to be good..hmm! may be best friends are made this way. And this certainly is a stable relation.

P.S. I was just nearing the end, when I had a small discussion with one of my really good friends. And I knew a disastrous way to show anguish. It was to be silent sine die. Therefore,I added the para for the need of open discussion.

DRIVERS OF GROWTH

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-L_hQ7qL2hc/R8otzONYqYI/AAAAAAAABwc/4KZHHR2UD5w/s400/untitled.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172997479999252866" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-L_hQ7qL2hc/R8otgONYqXI/AAAAAAAABwU/46fGvZtqFYI/s400/untitled1.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172997153581738354" />

JUDGE YOUR LADY

Judge your lady:
These are a few ways to rate your partner/ to be partner. This seems very much right in many situations. This is particularly true for we all Indians who are ever craving to move west. Ask somebody: where do you plan to be…. Amrika comes the answer . or America or Europe. Why? Hmm.. do not really know. Probably it is very great.
Great? C’mon you must be kidding. What does great mean. Again there is some pause. Hmm. More money. Very true. But again it is like bikni which hides more than it exposes. More money, at what cost.
There are people who earn a hell lot of money and live a good life, though certainly hectic. But simultaneously there are people who had liked to go to amrika but how and why were not actually clear tend to go to certain fields whose result is not as glittering as it was assumed earlier. Many can be found wearing good clothes, spending money lavishly but are they really happy with their work .May be not! I see many brown men and women working in the lowest category of work. I agree that it is very subjective, that someone has to do menial jobs. But why we? Where did we go wrong then, probably overestimation of self and under estimation of the competence required in the modern world. I see people roaming on the street drugged and stopping every brown people to ask if he is from Mumbai.
But certainly there are many who succeed. A fresh example I see is a Punjabi restaurant owner in Netherland (Hague). He came 30 years back by sea way with no money in hand but now owns a descent hotel.

great idea of ancesstors

A few things can be sensed only when we come across it. We all have desires, aspirations to do something great, to reach at a position better than the current one. Either we reach it or may be not. Let me start with the failure. If we are unable to achieve the goal, for a time being we get frustrated and sad. The situation becomes grim at times if peers are able to reach it. Probably this is our nature. Some of us are unable to cope with the failure thinking it as the end but the brave and pragmatic people strive, struggle to grab the next best opportunity. Life is full of ups and downs, and when we finally achieve something which we certainly will, its all happy and gay.
Therefore we always try to look forward to celebrate every small event, every small success. What I feel is New year also comes in line with this argument. We have found out great ways to rejuvenate the feelings, energize ourselves, and forget the setbacks.

Devegowda Vs Ram

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_-L_hQ7qL2hc/RxG_n3C_9bI/AAAAAAAABlc/eEPYOCjr0d0/s320/my+first.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5121084942809298354" />

Belgium Adventure

We had a team building exercise in Belgium. Very few people supposedly know about them and rarely will you find a person who has really understood this fact. Most of the persons who have earned a fortune in this field have successfully disguised their ignorance. The reason can be simulated as in the case of preparation for exams where many coaching institutions have got results without really caring for the concepts. The dilemma is why are they successful. What ever has been written now does not by any angle means that I have reached the niche. I am also ignorant but not ignorant enough to accept whatever is being told without really pondering over it and asking questions. The question is, is it really a fact or merely an unreachable and non-existing destination. The question is, is their any way to reach the goal, leave aside the shortcut path.
These and many questions arose while I was going through Life and Death of J. Krishnamurthy, a short biography by Mary Luteyns. “Truth is pathless” is one of the many profound statements in his discourse. I call it profound accepting myself as ignorant and with due respect to the intelligence and revelation as perceived by K(Krishnamurthy). Simultaneously K says that the feel of the ultimate truth can be known only when we have reached that stage. The problem arises here that we do not know where to reach neither we know how to reach.
Critically looking at K, he might have had the true revelation and to get there he asks us to search our soul. But it might also be possible that the possession of his body, which everyone thinks to have been done by the Lord Maitrya, is simply a manifestation of human mind and the large followers, groping to find some one who can get them nirvana. He may be simply a schizophrenic. Though this further enhances the ability of K’s mind to grasp the entities of the life.
But in any case what ever he spoke is certainly worth following. He followed many of his tenets. Therefore he, at the peak of his fame discarded the title of guru. Probably he had that confidence that he can make people learn more by interacting than by teaching.
But again it cannot be forgotten that when Rajagopal came in full command of his society and he was not very happy with the style of his functioning, he chose to drag him to the court. Some body may say that he only gave him the full rights. But as can be read he was not very happy at his decision and signed the papers in dilemma.
People ask that no body can find the reason for his sufferings and it was termed as a way of purification. The underlying assumption is that iron has to feel the burnt of fire to get to a desired shape. But rightly compared by Mary that the perfectionist in their respective separate fields did not undergo through these sufferings.
In any case, the world has certainly been benefited by his huge insights and is yet to divulge the details of his interaction.

Mass Mentality

The golden four years of my BTech life is nearing the end. These years have given me something which is equivalent to what I had learnt in the earlier 18 years. While introspecting I found myself on a very different platform in the last few weeks. I found what it means to be odd one out, may be for the right or the wrong reason. Then I could identify what is mass mentality. Fortunately or unfortunately I used to have similar thought as the so called masses. So it was not possible for me to have an insight as to what the person in front of me was going through when he was being forced upon to do something. Though it was a forceful act for him, for me it was a genuine act.
Some of the instances which I later realized was, when we forced few of the persons to pay for a party thrown for our juniors. We were unable to know his problems as we were not facing them. It is really something which I would like to learn to cope with.
Another thing to note is that most of the persons supposedly in the mass do not share exactly the same view as the dominant person in the group. They simply agree either because they do not want to be under any pressure or for the sake of the friend.
It is really so difficult to make a choice between what you really want to do and what people want you to do! Some times it is better to keep the friends’ wishes but what is the real time solution when any friend becomes very demanding. For the sake of your friendship neither you can throw him out of the scene, even if you are capable of doing that, nor can you always suppress your own feelings.
Lets see what comes out as the solution………….

Diamond treat

Diamond Party

Future of India and the Indian people/students

Finally the old horses understood the reality though partially and the result was a two day brain storming session on “Future of Metallurgy in India”. Every body made some points and the rest heard. We do not know as to how much of it will really be implemented. All were seeing to it that none must be left out. Finally professors, industrialists and students all were thanked for making the occasion a success. But no body really saw one person who was actually the most important person in making every body getting heard. Had he been not there attending the full two day session without a break, right from the word go till the end, we would have been able to pay heed to each other. Irony is that he does not have any thing to do with the future of Metallurgy or to say the future of India also. This is the soundwala person, yes the same person who arranges mike and the stuffs.
If anybody would have seen him, he would have noticed that he was making blank faces every time there was a huge applause or he would yawn when the speaker was gaining the tempo.
This poor bald fellow, was not able to understand the English language and so had no option other than to sit quietly with no body to speak to. In the same hall, many stalwarts of the country have spoken of making India a global power. But nobody has even once tried to look at the plight of the person sitting on stool at some distance to them. This shows as to why the policies do not show the real results. Unless all the people do not get the benefit of the developments we will remain poor. It won’t matter even if instead of 4 Indian come to the richest list or 40.

Traffic Signal or India's situation

Today i saw the movie "Traffic Signal".The movie certainly depicts the real life at the signal. This would be certainly appreciated by the people who experience it daily at the same signals, except perhaps at Sunday. One thing is for sure that whatever profession one is in he needs to work hard to get success.Second there always is a natural leader. In fact no body wants to take the initiative and wants somebody to pitch in first. Probably this is why we were ruled by the Britishers for so long, and now by these politicians.
The irony of the India's situation is that if there is any problem everybody knows the reason except the person who is supposed to fix it.Here also if we know that there is so and so problem at the traffic signal why the government or the concerned functionaries do not take care for their job. This is something I would never understand.

Follow a dream

Let’s follow a dream

Look, it’s beautiful. Expecting nothing great, I slowly turned to find really a scenic beauty. We were crossing the bridge at Allahbad and the lightings of Ardhkumbh were at their best stretching to around 5 odd kms on both sides. My friend started to take pictures and I had to be content only with my mobile phone camera which was really unrecognizable at the end.
My sole aim of this visit was to get a feel as to how does one feel when others are busy writing their paper (for which they had come) and you are free as a bird to do anything you wish. After a good night’s sleep we went to the Sangam.
At the ghat, I easily found the monopolistic ladies selling small cans for filling water, so called pure Ganga jal. When I neared the place of holy dip through the small boat, I was feeling ashamed of the bathroom with just the sky as the roof. Everyone was telling the importance of the dip and I was ashamed of the ladies (though they were also taking the dip). To add to the agony the saviour of our religion, the pandits were busy making money with four liners mantra and the multiple times used coconut. Used because, small children were hired by this man to find the used coconut from the Sangam for further use. One should really learn how to make business without investing 2 pennies (one penny for coconut bought for the first time!).
Leaving this aside, I also did not know how to swim. Only one of my fiends knew and I was pretty sure that at the time of need he will be first and only one to be at the shore. Finally I decided to get into the Ganges/Yamuna/Saraswati. The water was so cold that I immediately empathized with the souls of Titanic tragedy. How would they have felt when they sunk into freezing water .It was not as cold and my legs had started getting numb.
After the dip I now was considering myself pure and at that time I could see interface of Ganges and Yamuna, Ganges with dull brownish colour and Yamuna with greenish attire.
Though earlier the reason was, I was busy seeing something else.
The enormity of the Ardhkumbh was awesome and no qualms as to why, brothers getting separated in the kumbh mela was the theme of uncountable Bollywood classics. We also would have needed to go to “bhule bhatke shivir” thanks to tariff free call to local airtel connections.

Blowin' in the wind

How many exams must a man pass by
Before you call him a man?
Yes'n'How many lands must Bush crash down
Before he sleeps in the sand?
Yes'n'How many lives must a cigarette now take
Before they are forever banned?
The answer, my friend is bolowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind

How many times must a man look down
Before he can cheat from the page?
Yes'n'How many ears must one man have
Before he can hear the sage?
Yes'n'How many expels will it take till he knows
That too many people have left?
The answer, my friend is bolowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind

How many years can hatred exist
Before it's washed in the sea?
Yes'n'How many years saints exist
Before they are allowed to be free?
Yes'n'How many times can a missionary turn away
Preending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend is bolowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind

My experiments with an interview

This is a summary of my experience during the process. Many things one can get from the site itself, and rest of the stuff when they will come for PPT

Best part of the whole process was its transparency. They detailed us the various steps they would follow and the corresponding skill sets required. Their main focus was on CAR and T

Capacity – 1) How does one analyze the data

2) Thinking out of the box

Achievement 1) Perseverance and patience

Relationship 1) How does one work in a group

Technical This part was related to the technical project done which was to be presented in the most simplified way.

The process was distributed in three parts Case study , Group Exercise, Technical interview

CASE STUDY:

My program started at 6’o clock in the morning. I was given a 20 odd page foreground of the case , the earlier evening. Then in the morning I was supplied with 22 page case to be read in 80 minutes. They also gave a sample case during the ppt. It related to various problems meshed in one. After the time was over, I was called up by one of the experts. They were really very cooperative and ever smiling. I was asked to present the theme in 5 min. The last day we were given a mock exercise and were given some tips as well about the presentation. They were expecting the theme to have

1 Key issues

2 Short term and medium term actions

3 Strategic actions/ long term solutions.

It was followed by 20-25 min questionnaire session . They asked almost all the practical questions possible and simultaneously picking up questions from my presentation.
GROUP EXERCISE:
They had specifically mentioned, do not show aggressiveness. This round is to check ‘A’ and ‘R’. Do not try to employ CSR type of GD funda. Here also we were given a case. We had to reach to some conclusion. Also the plan suggested was to be strategically explained. This was a great problem as my partner could not read the material due to paucity of time and he was beating around the bush neither was he helping me to reach any conclusion. Finally we could not reach to any. This was the thing which was troubling me during the result as it was my weakest link, though due to the group.
I tried to be as polite as possible. All this gave a feel of the real tedious task of the managers.
After the given time they asked us to summarize. I took this opportunity (after asking the group). I explained the possible options but as some of the others had not given their strategy I left it( I was asked to stand up after I started speaking without standing). Then the assessors asked others if they had any comments. They had a few of their own points.
TECHNICAL INTERVIEW:
Another set of guys. Probably two HR and one technical guy. The interview started with the normal question of “ tell me about your self”. They had thoroughly read the resume as when I left my robo war contest they was quick to add it.

As we were asked in the mail, following were stressed upon

#Objective of my (preferred) project.

#What are the things you did ?

# Specific challenges faced

# The steps employed

# What is the utility of your project

# What financial advantages does it have, some specific questions which was coming up from my answers itself. I showed them by calculation that a profit of $1million can be had with this project.

Any Questions?

---------------------------------------------------The END--- ----------------------------

After the results feedback were given to a few students (who were not selected). Amazingly their feedback correctly pointed out the original nature of the students. So one should not try to fool them.

UTSAV REVISITED

Since the inception of UTSAV in 1997, it has never looked back both in terms of quality of participation and the funds. As far as UTSAV’06 is concerned there were many inspiring developments. First of all Prashant bhaiya was present. Though he curtailed our liberties to a great extent we learnt a lot from him. He made us prepare the words to be spoken on stage before the event. Initially we got irritated but it was for the ultimate good, as could be seen that it certainly gave a direction. It also gave a sense of responsibility. Rajesh bhaiya was once again on the spree.
For the first time we organized the Alternative Career Workshop and it was certainly a huge success. At least the forms filled showed the pathetic condition of the students of Purnea. We certainly need to cater to such needs. Problem is how? If any body just visits Purnea, just read the career alternative workshop forms, they are so vague. I mean the guys are not aware as to where they are heading to.

As far as lit events were concerned, I personally found that guys/ gals did not come forward to speak of their own. Though it was the condition when we were at that age but we need to change it. While some people spoke I found that they had a good command over the language especially girls but they were unable to speak maintaining the eye contact. We can break such virtual shells by interacting with them when ever we visit to Purnea.
The fine arts events were fabulous. People put up their ideas efficiently over paper.
From us Utsav certainly helps to train what it means to organize an event of such a scale. For us this acts as a great leap when the point of organizing the events at institute comes.
One very pleasant thing which any body can witness is the friendly competitiveness.
Finally we also must appreciate some of the students who participated in almost all the events right from cricket to debate.
Congratulating everybody for making UTSAV a success.

Wind of change brought out by Utsav

( It is not an act of plagiarism but a salute to the song and Utsav)
{Utsav is a fest organized in Purnea under our Sir's guidence (Batul Da)at a gala scale during December. Though the distance to be covered was only a few meters but it took me well above 5-10 min. Welcome to the Indian Railways sleeper compartment, especially in the land of railway minister. In trying to woo people and increasing profits this great man of the Indian history has also forgotten the basics, that to increase the productivity the bottom line must be made well furnished.
When you are sleeping fast asleep in the comforts of the leather berth swinging loosely some body would buzz like a mosquito and ask bhai saahab din me kyun so rahe hain? What the hell? This is my reserved berth, I gave the reply. So what? But when I saw that every person who were in their deep slumber has woken up and are crouching at the corner of their berth, I felt it would be better if I also follow suit. So did I . I had quite a few similar experiences, so now first of all I check out I can get enough support from the fellow travelers who have valid reserved tickets.
During one of my travel from Mughalsaray to katihar I boarded rather made my way till my berth and as usual found it occupied. I sternly asked them to vacate my seat. The guy says let the train move then soon I will get away, till then just adjust. I thought these words should be spoken by me at this time. But still! I replied , no adjustment dear just leave. Now I settled in my berth, but just to show some pity I offered him one eighth corner of my seat which after some time creped to one fourth then one third. Hey! I said: you remember this is my seat and I am not getting any place to adjust my butt even. Take care of these situations also Mr Railway minister.

T.I.M.E. The other parties as well are equally responsible for this ensuing debacle of the education system. Some parties though reiterate that there should not be anyappeasement butthey can be seen pursuing their vote bank politics when they helped to pass the bill unanimously. To see the pros and cons of the decision we need to get to the past i.e. the Mandal commission . It was adopted in 1989 which led to such a furor that the then Prime minister Mr. Vishwanath Pratap Singh had to resign, but he had already given the blow. The integrity of the report can not be doubted as the so called lower caste people have not developed as some of the upper caste people. But this never suggests that in order to equalize every body we should cut the head of some people and provide a screw jack below the ass of others. Unfortunately this is exactly what is being done. Also after so many years of the of reservation policy much change has not been seen in the overall condition and the mentality has detoriated as if the reservation is their birthright.
This should also bring to the politicians' mind that there is some inherent flaw in there policy as regard to the development of the society (though not in their personal benefits in terms of vote bank) The preamble also clearly mentions that there should be equality of opportunity and not that some body should be given advantage over others. When Dr. Ambedkar accepted the Simon Commission decision regarding the reservations for the SC/ST in Pune pact, Mahatma Gandhi showed his dissent saying it would widen the gap between the upper caste and the lower caste people. This is exactly what can be seen in the present scenario. This can be seen in all the places where such discriminations are made. The Mandal Commission was adopted by full measures in the Colleges under State Government and there we can see a clear divide between the different castes. The students are divided in various factions as FC/BC/OBC etc. After the Mandal Commission II was adopted a major change can be observed among students of the other elite colleges which are to come under the purview. The change is : The students are now trying to identify the OBCs and non OBCs. In my opinion this was bound to happen under such circumstances. The other demand put forward is the reservations in the private enterprises. I am at a fault to understand that how do we plan to see India shining and have a double digit growth with such ridiculous ideas.
Now, the propellers of the reservation policy would contend about the social duties. The answer is pretty clear, if at all you want to bring equality to the society take care of the people below the poverty level. They may be upper caste or lower caste or any body but for God sake do not curb the intelligent and deserving candidates only because they do not belong to the lower caste. Many people then also contend that, in the past the backward caste people have been treated badly. So what do you want now? You want to avenge those maltreatment from the generation who is broad minded and tries to weigh everybody equally. Some of the actions taken is praise worthy as to allow the SC/ST students to prepare for the IITJEE exam under the guidance of the Professors of the institute itself but again there is no justification of curbing the merit. What ever be the future of the movie but the trailor had depicted the essence i.e. gandhigiri. It was really a peaceful way to bore any body. You have paid so you can not go outof the theatre believing against belief that the movie will have some twist. Arshad Warsi the main actor in the Munnabhai part1 had too little a role. So the medhak wali aankh ka( Hulchal yadi dekhe ho to) banda could not deliver.
